Busy Weekend

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

This will be a busy portrait weekend for me.

On Friday I have a big corporate client that has hired me for a full day to do group and individual photos. This job, like many of the better ones, came from networking. It wasn’t a cold call, or mass mail, or even putting my business card in someone’s hand. It happened because I knew someone who knew I could do the work.

Help Portrait

Never underestimate the power of networking! A good group of photographers that you work with, share with, and socialize with can bring you work you never knew existed.

Saturday will be a great day. I am one of the photographers for the Atlanta area Help Portrait movement, and I will spend my day working with people who may have never had a picture taken of themselves or their families. I am very happy and honored to be able to use my talents to help others.

Help Portrait Project

On December 12th, photographers around the world will be grabbing their cameras, finding people in need, and taking their picture. When the prints are ready, the photographs get delivered to the families, the men and women in shelters, those in need.

This is about GIVING the pictures, not taking them. These portraits are not for my portfolio, website, or for sale. Money isn’t involved here. This holiday season, I am proud to have the chance to give a family something they may have never had before – a portrait together.

I am part of the Atlanta branch of Help-Portrait, and on December 12, 2009, I will be joining with other photographers stationed at 5 locations around Atlanta working with Families First to give a small but meaningful gift to someone – the gift of a picture.
