I just got back from being part of Help Portrait in Atlanta. It was great to be a small part of such a large movement. The kids and families we worked with today were, without exception, wonderful, delightful, and cheerful. The volunteers were ego-free, gregarious, and wonderful to spend a day with.
I’m at home now reading the Twitter posts from folks who were part of Help Portrait, and I am in tears – literal tears – as I read some of these 140 character messages.
- “4 kids finalized their adoption Dec 9. On Dec 12 their gifted a family portrait thanks to #helpportrait”
- “Saw a mom tear up after seeing the first portrait of her son ever.”
- “Lots of girls being told they are beautiful today… amazing!”
- “Finished a #helpportrait session with a hospice patient; here I go to the big Mpls HP event. Such an amazing and emotional day so far.”
- “a teen just saw her feshly styled mom and said, ‘oh my gosh, Mom! You’re beautiful!’”
- ….and they keep coming in!
I don’t think I can say much more about this except, “Thank you.”
